On May 26th, 2021, The Crystal Plaza in Livingston, NJ, hosted Joe and Kristina Moore, who were surrounded by family and friends to renew their vows in conjunction with Wish Upon a Wedding. Two years into their marriage, Joe Moore started experiencing debilitating back pain, and ultimately discovered a large tumor in his lungs. With all the hardship of the past year due to COVID-19, The Crystal Plaza continues to bring joy to the community by working with the organization for a special ceremony.
Working with wedding planner Natalie, K David Events, the Crystal Plaza donated their venue and catering services to husband and wife, Joe and Kristina Moore. The couple first met years ago at one of Joe’s band shows, and the two would often run into each other. Years later they reconnected online, started dating, fell in love and eloped in Las Vegas a year later. Two years into wedding bliss, Joe started experiencing agonizing back pain, and ultimately discovered a large tumor in his lungs and received the devastating diagnosis of stage four lung cancer.

Wish Upon a Wedding was created to give back to couples in need. In 2009 wedding planner Liz Guthrie inspired businesses and wedding industry professionals to donate their money and services to host a free wedding to a deserving couple in need. This one wedding started a movement in the industry and Wish Upon a Wedding will now be celebrating their 150th wedding this year.

The vow renewal ceremony began in Crystal Plaza’s Atrium on the second level, which features an unobstructed fifty-foot skylight as well as its signature crystal chandeliers. The guests then moved to the Grand Ballroom for the reception, where the couple enjoyed their “first dance” with DJ Craig Scott Entertainment. The Crystal Plaza ensured the couple, and all guests were well taken care of in the 5,000 square foot space with a specially curated food and drink menu for guests.

This is the first time the Crystal Plaza has teamed up with Wish Upon a Wedding, and certainly will not be their last. The event fell on the same day as Max Janoff’s birthday, and the Director of Sales said he wouldn’t want to celebrate any other way. “Hosting an event for Kristina and Joseph was incredibly special for the Crystal Plaza, but for it to fall on my birthday really made it feel even more personal. They deserved every second of that amazing evening,” said Janoff.
The venue is grateful for the opportunity to work with the non-profit organization and plans to continue to donate their services in the years to come. The Crystal Plaza is known throughout the tri-state area for hosting luxurious weddings and events and is honored to support the community by giving a once in a lifetime opportunity to deserving couples.
